More Sailing Adventures Coming!

Well, The sailing season is halfway finished, but the best is yet to come!

The first half of the year, I was getting used to sailing my new boat while taking friends, family and new friends out on 4, 8 hour excursions and some 2 and 3 day expeditions. Its was a great success!

I found out doing longer trips is where I want to go! So most of the reminding season will be little more adventurous on the sailing, But don’t worry! I will still be doing the “Princess trips” which are the 4 hour and 8 hour short excursions on weekdays!

I should have another series of planed trips for July and August up by tonight.

True North Adventures will be focusing on Safe voyages and living the “cruising life style” while visiting ports on Lake Erie for the year! We will be doing more photo shoots on and off the boat while exploring ports and attractions,  plus I will be teaching how to sail, navigate, docking, cooking on a boat, maintenance, packing for a trip and of course having loads of fun visiting ports of call!

Thank you for subscribing and please tell some friends!

Sailing from Toledo Beach to the Islands.

Toledo Beach is one of the best places for boats, entertainment, live bands, food and drink! First lets talk about what Toledo Beach is. The area has a Marina for hundreds of boats, mainly sailboats! One reason for that is the location. While many marinas are in rivers and long inlets away from the main body of water. This area has a instant access to putting up your sails while leaving the channel. So in a matter of minutes, you can be sailing instead of motoring with the “Iron Genney” as soon as possible once outside the marina.

The channel leaving NCYC AND Toledo Beach Marina.

Sailing from  the TBM to Put-in-Bay and other Islands with 4 to 6 guest as “True North Crew” is  29 miles or about 5 hour trip depending on wind and direction. This is a nice little adventure and getting their is half the fun! West Sister Island is midway and this point you feel like you are really exploring the world by sail! You almost have 360 view of nothing but water and the Island, which makes it feel very isolated. The destination after passing West Sister is one of three main Islands, South Bass(Put-in-Bay), Middle Bass (St. Hazards),  and Kelleys Island. These Islands all have fun summer outdoor activities from nature walks to beaches and a great night life and entertainment for those that wish to indulge on some rum!

Captain Mike plans on taking guest out in this area about every other week from May to October for three day livaboard Sailing Adventures.

You can book a trip by contacting  through an email or fill out one of the forms on Captainmikeisbell.com

S/V Adventure, Getting her ready for launch.

Launch time is coming in about two weeks! Many things to do till then but over the weekend, she needed a good cleaning. Here are a few pictures of the inside all nice and ship shape.

Salon for entertaining.

The Salon is midship, Great area for entertaining! The table folds out so 6 people can sit around in almost in a 360 degree circle. At night, the table lowers with added shape cushions for a sleeping area. When at a dock and shore power, she is capable of having air condition and heat if necessary. There are many ports and sky lights for a roomy bright atmosphere and shades for privacy in the evening.

Nice size galley.

The Galley is quite large and has a double sink, freezer, refrigerator, microwave, oven and stove with lots of cabinet space. Ventilation is very good because of more hatches and port windows in this area too.

Aft stateroom.

The aft stateroom is large and has a queen size bed with 3 sets of lockers and cabinets for cloths and gear. From the cabin, you can assess the head (bathroom and shower) or enter/exit by a second door to the Galley. There is even a small chair for relaxing. The stateroom has six ports and hatches for light and ventilation.

Forward Cabin

The forward cabin can sleep two and has its own big hatch topside plus a privacy sink with cabinets and a locker to port. A window opens up on the bulkhead for a more open feel and closes for more privacy for sleeping.

Head with its own shower area.

The bathroom “called a Head in a boat” has hot and cold water, vanity with sink and a walk-in shower and toilet.

The salon.

There is a navigation table for the VHF radio with control panel for operating the many systems on the vessel. A TV is in this area too, but really, We can watch TV at home.

S/V Adventure can sleep 7 and is very comfortable for living the cruising life for 4 guest and the captain.

Looking forward to sailing her and having guest aboard for some epic adventures and excursion in the Western basin of Lake Erie. Sunset cruises, Day trips to Toledo, Three day liveaboard expeditions to the Islands at Put-in-Bay and the area, Morning Zen sails and more.

There is a few selected trips now on the website and more will be coming out in the near future. Please contact me or request a trip by filling out one of the “interest trip forms”.

Coming soon, pictures of the outdoor shower, cockpit, decks and sails when she goes in the water!
